RIP Hunter S Thompson, Feb 2005.
This was done as the first part of my current Illustration assignment- two portraits of well-known people, one in color, one in black and white. This is, obviously, the color one. I think I'm doing Edgar Allen Poe for the black and white one. This one went through a lot of process, and I think it's my first really successful picture involving a human. Process included watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas at least 12 times, reading the book once, buying and looking through a copy of Ralph Steadman's "Gonzo; the Art", also numerous sketches, and a very extensive digital color study. Over all, though, I think the result is more than worth the effort. ^^ |
